Dodgers Set to Start Four-Game Series with Nationals

The Los Angeles Dodgers are on a roll and are looking to take that momentum to our Nation’s Capitol.

After getting no-hit by the Chicago Cubs last Thursday, the Dodgers have gone on a six-game winning streak. They beat the Cubs the remaining three games of that series, and then edged out the San Francisco Giants in two games to gain some spots in the highly contested NL West. The Dodgers now sit at 49-31, 1.5 games out of first, while holding the second-best record in the National League. The San Diego Padres are still close with a record of 49-33, 2.5 games out of first place.

Who Is Dodgers’ MVP for First Half of 2021?

With a little over two weeks until the 2021 All-Star break, teams will look to prepare for the second half of the season. So far this year, the Los Angeles Dodgers are 48-31 and two and a half games back behind the San Francisco Giants, who currently have the best record in the majors.

The Los Angeles Dodgers did something Sunday night on national television rarely seen—they absolutely dominated their competition.

Of course I mean that mostly tongue in cheek, but it does seem that the Dodgers rarely do well on the national stage. But over the weekend, they won both nationally televised games. Saturday they beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2, but on Sunday it was all Dodgers, led by a magnificent performance by Clayton Kershaw.

Dodgers Prospect Watch: Diego Cartaya Making Noise at Low-A Rancho Cucamonga

While the Dodgers might be slacking in several areas of prospect development, the catching department is certainly not one of them.

Will Smith and Austin Barnes have a stronghold on both the MLB catching spots, causing 21-year-old Keibert Ruiz to take a backseat at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Even though he’s had two tours of duty with the big league squad so far this season, Ruiz has settled in nicely at OKC, already collecting eight homers, 10 doubles, and 21 RBI through his first 29 games.

However, one name that’s often forgotten among the organization’s young catchers is 19-year-old Diego Cartaya. The Venezuela native is frequently overlooked by fans in the shadows of Ruiz. Nevertheless, the fact that Cartaya was selected to the organization’s 60-man player pool last year suggests that he could be a bit more advanced than many think.
