Dodgers’ Rookies Admirably Filling Void in Starting Rotation

If there’s one department that has been inconsistently consistent for the Dodgers over the course of the 2016 season, it’s undoubtedly the starting pitching rotation.

It was only towards the end of last winter, just shortly after the club signed Scott Kazmir and Kenta Maeda, that many fans were calling for a trade of Alex Wood because of the rotation being overcrowded. Resident ace Clayton Kershaw would be the headliner while southpaw Brett Anderson brought up the rear. Sandwiched in between would be Kazmir and Maeda, along with lefty Hyun-jin Ryu, who, at the time, was throwing well and poised to join the rotation by Opening Day.

Dodgers Fans Pleased with Rich Hill’s Masterful Debut

Although it took a little more than three weeks in the Dodgers‘ organization to battle through the final stages of an agonizing blister on his throwing finger, lefty starter Rich Hill made an extremely impressive debut on Wednesday evening that left fans feeling a little bit better about an otherwise questionable starting rotation.

Oaks, De León Could Be on Doorstep of Dodgers’ 25-Man Roster

Direction of Dodgers’ Rotation Changing Yet Again

Each time the Dodgers have a defined direction intact in regards to a solidified starting pitching rotation, an old blister, a predetermined innings limit, or some kind of unexpected injury always seems to stand in the way of stabilization when preparing for the stretch run of the regular season.

Dodgers’ Rotation Projections vs. Phillies and Reds

After a rough go of sorts for the starting rotation against the Pirates last weekend at home, the Dodgers head eastbound to begin the Philadelphia series with their two healthiest and most productive stalwarts. Although the forecast appears to be a bit blurry after the first two games of the set, things may not be all that gloomy once the club makes a few decisions and the dust settles.

Each time rookie Ross Stripling has been recalled to the big league roster this season, it seems as if the 26-year-old righty has elevated his skills to an entirely new level. And while fellow rookie Grant Dayton has impressed out of the bullpen in his two trips to the bigs, it may be time the Dodgers consider the duo as permanent fixtures on the pitching staff.
