Really, it was very sweet of the Dodgers to echo the optimism of my post earlier today. Who cares about 10 players on the DL when the team you have scores 15 runs in their first game?
Ok, so I know that not every game is going to be this good. Of course it can’t be. But there’s not much more of an emphatic way that you can start off a season by scoring 15 runs while blanking a division rival.
And tomorrow we might not be together I’m no prophet and I don’t know nature’s ways So I’ll try and see into your eyes right now And stay right here ’cause these are the good old days

Opening Day is upon us. The best day of the year. Anything is possible, and dreams are full of a World Series run. Who cares if half your team is on the disabled list? Who cares that your pitching staff has the best one there is, plus who knows who? That your manager is a rookie, and there’s too many brains in the front office? That your payroll is too high for all the uncertainty. And that you’re desperately trying not to remember that the treasure of your ball club is retiring at the end of the year and you have limited time left to listen to him.

When the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 25-man roster became official on Sunday morning, everybody connected to different levels of the farm system began scrambling to assemble the building blocks to each of their respective squads.
With the big league starting rotation finally set, scouting directors, managers and coaches at Oklahoma City are sifting through all the remaining uninjured players, and will indeed announce their own 25-man roster, including a starting pitching rotation, sometime before Opening Day on April 7.

After being probably the biggest question mark encompassing most of the Dodgers’ spring camp, manager Dave Roberts finally named the fifth starter in the pitching rotation Friday afternoon, announcing that 26-year old righty Ross Stripling will take the hill on April 8 against the Giants.

With only a handful of days remaining before the Dodgers officially submit their 25-man roster, the bullpen remains one of the few areas that has stayed relatively healthy throughout the spring, and outside of maybe one possible bubble player, is in its final stages of being a finished product — at least for the beginning of the season.

Although the original recovery time with Andre Ethier‘s fractured right tibia was estimated at 10-14 weeks, the Dodgers’ outfielder is doing everything possible to optimize the healing process and conceivably speed up his return to the team.
Right now, Ethier isn’t wearing a cast, but rather a fitted brace that is completely removable. He’s also utilizing a healing technique known as “vibration therapy,” which employs an electrical bone stimulator that tucks into his pants.

Although he was hoping to be healthy and fully prepared to play on Opening Day, recent reports are suggesting that second baseman Howie Kendrick may be destined to begin the season on a very crowded Dodgers‘ disabled list.
The plan right now is to have Kendrick stay behind in Arizona with the minor league squads while the remainder of the team travels back to Los Angeles to prepare for the final exhibition series of the spring against the Angels. The Dodgers are hoping that his calf continues to progress — conceivably enough to cram in as many at-bats and fielding reps as possible in an effort to be ready for the opener on April 4.

The Los Angeles Dodgers received a bit of good news in the injury department on Friday when shortstop Corey Seager resumed normal baseball activities just one day after testing himself with four at-bats in a controlled, minor league game.
Seager appeared as designated hitter in the game, and although he was retired in all four of his ABs, wasn’t permitted to run the bases even if he had put the ball in play.

Still unable to throw or swing a bat with just nine days remaining until Opening Day, Dodgers’ catcher Yasmani Grandal may be dangerously close to beginning the season on the disabled list.
Grandal has been battling soreness in his right forearm for the past two weeks, and apparently the strain was made worse when he fouled a ball off his upper arm in a Cactus League game against the Mariners on Monday.
