Happy Baseball Eve baseball fans! The Los Angeles Dodgers (re)start their march towards another World Series championship, beginning with their home opener against the St Louis Cardinals.
Unfortunately the weather does not seem as excited to start the season as the rest of us. Rain is forecast in Southern California for this weekend, which may lead to the ultra-rare rainout at Chavez Ravine.

The Los Angeles Dodgers went 3-1 in their Korea era, having won both of their exhibition games, and split their series with the San Diego Padres.
In Game 1 against the Padres, the offense was sluggish early, but eventually battled back from a 2-1 deficit to win the game 5-2. Tyler Glasnow was shaky, allowing two runs over his five innings of work. The bullpen buckled in, and held the Padres scoreless, allowing the Dodgers to capitalize on a four-run eighth inning.

Well that Spring Training went by quickly, didn’t it? Granted, the Los Angeles Dodgers started early than all teams other than the San Diego Padres, their Korean series opponents, but the Arizona part of Spring Training flew by.

Although the 2024 MLB regular season begins on March 28 for most teams, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will get a head start on this year’s campaign under the world microscope with a series in Seoul on March 20 and 21.
This will be an interesting matchup, as the Dodgers went full-in to land Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and others, while the Padres dealt superstar Juan Soto to the Yankees, seemingly to avoid a payroll crunch.

The 2023-24 MLB free-agent class could be one of the most memorable in recent winters, thanks primarily to a pair of Japanese superstars in Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Ohtani is on top of almost every headline in the baseball blogosphere right now and already has a prolific career as a 29-year-old two-way player. Despite having his 2023 season cut short by an oblique injury and impending elbow surgery, the 2023 American League MVP put up career highs in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging and OPS.
While some fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers held onto a shred of hope that their beloved team would advance deeply into the 2023 postseason, others knew that an exit without bringing home a championship was inevitable.
They just didn’t think it would happen so soon.
A lot of us hoped that an offense that was so impressive most of the year could balance out a pitching staff that was hammered by injuries and one disgraceful leave of absence. Unfortunately, those hopes never became a reality. The bats never really showed up, almost replicating the same performance against the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series nearly a year ago.

At the beginning of the season, I, and I would venture many other fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers, didn’t think this team would amount to what we have been previously accustomed.
So many fan favorites moved on over the past two seasons, like Cody Bellinger and Justin Turner. Sure Cody had a down season last year, but look what’s he’s accomplishing in Chicago. JT also is producing in his new home to Boston.
