As the month of September is now upon us, and despite the foregone conclusion that the Dodgers will capture their fifth consecutive NL West division crown in the coming weeks, there really hasn’t been much discussion about a prospective playoff roster. Subjectively, it’s probably a lot better that way, because the next four weeks will be an audition of sorts for some areas of the roster, and the bullpen is shaping up to be a place that’s potentially loaded with surprises.

Dodgers Roster: Player Reinforcements Are Coming Very Soon

The Dodgers start the last week in August with a day off, and maybe it’s a good time for it. The offense sure seems tired. Almost no-hit yesterday, and no runs scored Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Dodgers Activate Yu Darvish, Place Josh Fields on Disabled List

The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated right-handed pitcher Yu Darvish from the 10-day disabled list and placed right-handed pitcher Josh Fields on the 10-day disabled list with a lower back strain. Fields’ stint on the DL can be retroactive to August 25, if needed.

Dodgers Prospects: Does Wilmer Font Deserve a Big League Spot Start?

With arguably three of the club’s best starting arms currently on the shelf, it’s difficult to believe that the Dodgers still continue to perform at a tremendous rate of success. And despite a nightmarish impromptu start from young righty Brock Stewart against the Pirates on Tuesday evening, the powerful Los Angeles bats lived up to their high profile billing, guiding the squad to its 89th victory of the year. What a shame it is, though, that the offense was unable to muster just a single run in support of Rich Hill‘s spectacular pitching exhibition on Wednesday night.

Exactly How Good Is the Los Angeles Dodgers Bullpen?

From a pitching standpoint, much of the spotlight from the opener against the Pirates on Monday evening was placed on lefty starter Alex Wood‘s performance and potential shoulder dilemma; however, the general perception of the Dodgers‘ bullpen as of late has been causing many fans to be a bit concerned, especially when looking ahead to the postseason.

Dodgers Roster: Piecing Together the Optimal Bullpen

For many followers of the Dodgers, the general consensus was that the club needed some type of upgrade before the non-waiver trade deadline on July 31. In turn, with elite Baltimore closer Zach Britton being virtually untouchable, Los Angeles snagged a pair of southpaws in Tony Watson and Tony Cingrani during the waning moments of the cutoff period. Yet, now that the need for at least one lefty arm has been addressed, those same followers are still wondering if the team’s relief corps has enough firepower to succeed deep into the 2017 postseason.

Mixed Signals Coming from Dodgers on Eve of Trade Deadline

If there’s one thing that can be said about the management crew of the Dodgers during the weeks leading up to the 2017 non-waiver trade deadline, it would be the fact that there are zero clues being left behind as to what intentions the club has in terms of upgrading the team. Outside of a few minor league additions in Luke Farrell and Luis Ysla — all in exchange for cash — the front office is seemingly flying under the radar in trade talks, or at least that’s what most fans think.
