The Los Angeles Dodgers finished the month of July by winning three-of-four at Coors Field against the Rockies. The Dodgers and Rockies will not face off again until the last six games of the season, all at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers went 21-5 this month, tied for the fourth best winning percentage in the month of July by a team ever in the majors. The number one team in July? The 2017 Dodgers. Los Angeles will head into August with at least a 12 game lead in the NL West.

Dodgers Trade Zach McKinstry to Cubs for Reliever Chris Martin

With just a few days remaining before this summer’s trade deadline, the Dodgers traded super-utility man Zach McKinstry to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a super-veteran reliever in Chris Martin.

We’ve been discussing the Los Angeles bullpen quite a bit lately — particularly the role Craig Kimbrel might play during a prospective 2022 playoff run — and this latest move comes one day after Kimbrel nearly squandered a three-run ninth-inning lead against the Rockies on Friday.

Taking a Look at Several Possible Player Additions for Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been there and done that regarding big trades. Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, and Yu Darvish. Since the team is regularly among the perennial candidates, it is no debate as to why they execute these trades.

This trade deadline season isn’t any different, as the Dodgers have many names linked to them.
Even with a record of 66-32, the Dodgers are still looking to add pieces for the postseason push.

Can Dodgers Succeed in Playoffs With Craig Kimbrel as Closer?

While the Los Angeles Dodgers have been the focus on nearly every potential trade chip so far this summer, adding a reliable reliever or two to the bullpen has been one of the most popular topics of discussion across the baseball blogosphere.

Even the most informed reporters and analysts in the media have a difficult time predicting trades without a reliable source of inside information. It’s hard to hypothesize how a rival general manager views their team’s needs, much less the actual trade value of the player departing. Occasionally, we’ll see a deal reported as a sure thing reach an impasse because both sides are unable to arrive at an agreement.

Dodgers Activate Andrew Heaney, Jake Reed

The Dodgers on Wednesday morning activated lefty starting pitcher Andrew Heaney and righty reliver Jake Reed ahead of Wednesday’s finale against the Nationals at Dodger Stadium.

To make room on the active roster, the team optioned pitchers Mitch White and Garrett Cleavinger.

Trayce Thompson Has Made the Most of His Opportunity

When Mookie Betts went down earlier this season with cracked ribs, the Dodgers were looking for help with a right-handed bat in the outfield. Several names were thrown around, and eventually, the team settled on Trayce Thompson from the Detroit Tigers for cash considerations.

A familiar name among Dodger fans, the 31-year-old Thompson returned to his second stint in L.A. after bouncing around the league for a couple of seasons. At first, it seemed he’d be a fill-in until Betts returned.

Dodgers Complete Four-Game Sweep of San Francisco Giants

What Would It Take for Dodgers to Land Juan Soto?

From now to the August 2 trade deadline, lots of speculation will surround 23-year-old outfielder Juan Soto, and for a good reason. The Washington Nationals have made it clear that the right fielder is available for trade, and every contender is interested.

Soto is still very young and could be a huge boost to a contender, especially if the club that lands him is eventually able to sign him to a long-term deal.
