After the Tyler Glasnow deal went down last week, the biggest question left for the Los Angeles Dodgers is how aggressively they will pursue another high-quality arm to create a formidable rotation.
We could talk forever about the specifics of Glasnow’s contract extension and what it means to the team going forward. The trade with the Rays was contingent on Glasnow agreeing to a five-year- $136 million deal, ensuring he’ll likely be around if or when Shohei Ohtani joins the rotation.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been cruising along as of late, winning five of their last six, all against NL West.
Along the way, the have opened a six game lead in the division. Taking three of four from the San Diego Padres, the Dodgers have effectively buried the team to the south, who are 13 games back. They also took both games in Arizona, and the Diamondbacks now find themselves 11 games out of first.

Although it remains to be seen how exactly the trades the Los Angeles Dodgers made at this summer’s deadline will affect the club in the coming months, it’s probably safe to say that none of those moves were overwhelmingly impactful. When the 2023 season started, fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers were underwhelmed with who made up the team. Now after the trade deadline, they also might feel underwhelmed about the moves that were, and more importantly, were not made.
If the Dodgers were still at full strength and not incredibly bitten by the injury bug, the Dodgers would not need to make a big splash at the trade deadline. But the team was very much in need of staring pitching.
