He turned from watching the players to look his new second baseman in the eye. “This, it’s the veteran guys that talk about winning. And, other teams that I’ve been on, it’s been a handful,” Forsythe continued. “Last year, we were tough, man. Our team is tough,” Roberts said. “And it’s like…” “You got the right guys to be that way,” Forsythe continued for him. “We do, we do, man,” said Roberts.

Dodgers Offense Doing Well Early

The Dodgers are undefeated so far in spring training. Who cares if there’s only been two games? Yesterday’s game was a wild affair, where the Dodgers allowed the Milwaukee Brewers to score seven unanswered runs and still won the game 10-8. Of course, in the grand scheme of things, the second game of spring training doesn’t really mean much. But let’s take a look at what does.

Dodgers Spring Training Notes: The Dawn of Cactus League Play

The first week of Dodgers spring training has come and gone, and the first game of the spring is upon us. The Dodgers will play the Chicago White Sox tomorrow, with whom they share the facilities at Camelback Ranch. Slated to be the starting pitcher is none other than Clayton Kershaw. He is expected to only pitch one inning. Taking their place in line behind him will be Alex Wood, Josh Ravin, Jacob Rhame, and Madison Younginer. Starters are expected to play through two at-bats.

Dodgers Announce Franklin Gutierrez Signing

On Monday afternoon, the Dodgers finally announced the signing of outfielder Franklin Gutierrez. The Dodgers and Gutierrez reportedly reached a one year agreement back on February 10th. Per Jon Heyman, the deal is for $2.6M with a possible $400K in incentives. Space was made available for him on Sunday when the Dodgers traded Vidal Nuno to the Baltimore Orioles for minor leaguer Ryan Moseley.

Dodgers Bullpen: Will Chris Hatcher Reveal True Potential in 2017?

As there are still a few whispers regarding possible relief additions in the forms of Joe Blanton and Greg Holland, there’s no question the Dodgers have enough bullpen firepower to find success with its existing corp. And while the most critical role could certainly be the eighth-inning bridge to closer Kenley Jansen, 32-year-old righty Chris Hatcher definitely has the tools to fit the bill, however, the question still lingers as to whether he can bring all his skills together consistently for one full season.
