So, it just might be that these Dodgers are pretty good. After sweeping a four-game series with the Mets, they head into a series with the second place Colorado Rockies riding a seven game winning streak. They’ve won 13 of their last 14 games.

Right at the tail end of an offensive hiatus last week, we discussed the possibility of the Dodgers having the desire to pursue offensive help before the 2017 trade deadline. Yet as the lumber once again awoke from the dead — powered primarily by the fuel of youngsters Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger — many fans are now turning their attention to the starting rotation, which may ultimately lack the required depth to make a run deep into the postseason this autumn.

What an absolutely fun weekend of Dodgers baseball. Two comeback wins, and a sweep of the Cincinnati Reds. This team continues to show no quit when down late in the game.
Both comebacks were spurred on by shortstop Corey Seager, who with a walkoff double Saturday night, recorded his first ever walkoff hit at any level. For a player as talented as he, that seems highly improbable. But, baseball. Seager then proceeded to smash the go-ahead runs in with his first ever grand slam in the eighth-inning. That also was his first grand slam in the major leagues. Again, surprising.

Up until recently, many media outlets have been emphasizing how the starting rotation and the relief corps of the Dodgers have been the backbone of the club over the course of the season’s first quarter. The high-powered Dodgers offense had a very good weekend at home, scoring a total of 26 runs, and they didn’t score less than six runs in any one game. Even though the beginning of Saturday’s game looked as though it may be bad, even possibly a no-hitter, the offense battled back to score six runs. Invariably. that was not enough to win the game. However, the Dodgers still took three of four from the struggling Marlins.
