On Thursday, Major League Baseball held its Rule 5 draft, when clubs without a full 40-man roster could select certain non-protected players from other clubs.

While the MLB Winter Meetings have taken on an entirely new look this year because of health concerns surrounding the pandemic, there won’t be anything from preventing the Rule 5 Draft from being orchestrated as normal.

The National League after just one season of the universal designated hitter may see it gone. As Andy reported yesterday, MLB told NL teams to expect that there will be no universal DH next season.

Today would have been the day that the Winter Meetings would have started were there no Covid to ruin yet another thing. The Hot Stove might have started heating up, but instead of meeting all in one place, meetings will take place virtually, and the stove will probably stay lukewarm for awhile.

Undoubtedly, most of the speculation regarding potential player acquisitions for the Dodgers so far this winter has surrounded relief pitching.
