The Los Angeles Dodgers enter the 2025 season with what many consider one of the most talented MLB rosters assembled in decades. There already seems to be a target on their backs across the league after front-office boss Andrew Friedman spared no punches this winter by filling nearly every gap on the player roster.

As many pundits have debated, Friedman’s spending may not be a result of the Dodgers flexing their financial muscles as much as other teams not willing to invest their resources in top talent.

Dodgers Bolster Pitching Staff with Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott

To say the Los Angeles Dodgers have put themselves in a position for another strong playoff run in 2025 would be an understatement. By adding top-shelf pitchers like Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki and most recently reliever Tanner Scott, the team is poised to be a legit postseason contender for the foreseeable future.

Heading into the winter, many fans had their fingers crossed that a starting rotation led by Yoshinobu Yamamoto would be good enough to win a fourth-straight NL West title. At the time, there were many question marks — whether Tyler Glasnow, Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May could finally stay healthy, if Clayton Kershaw had any gas in the tank, and whether Shohei Ohtani would be able to contribute to the pitching staff by Opening Day.

Dodgers Sign Hyeseong Kim, Designate Diego Cartaya for Assignment

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Friday that they have agreed to terms with utility player Hyeseong Kim on a three-year contract for $12.5 million with a two-year club option for 2028 and 2029. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club designated catcher Diego Cartaya for assignment.

Dodgers Roster: Early Thoughts on 2025 Outfield

As the MLB hot stove continues to percolate, there are still a slew of factors that could affect how the Opening Day roster for the Los Angeles Dodgers shapes up in 2025. More specifically, there are various scenarios that could affect where some players appear regularly on the field.

What we know for certain, as far as position players go, is that Shohei Ohtani will do the bulk of the designated hitting, Freddie Freeman will be at first base, Will Smith will be behind the plate and newly acquired Michael Conforto will see time at the corner outfield spots. It’s also highly likely that Max Muncy will be the club’s regular third baseman.

Freddie Freeman’s World Series Walk-Off Grand Slam Ball Sells for $1.56 Million

After an intense bidding war that went into the late hours of Saturday night, Freddie Freeman’s 2024 World Series walk-off grand slam baseball sold at SCP Auctions for $1.56 million.

This ball is the third-most valuable baseball ever, surpassing Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run ball in 2022. “We are so honored to have handled one of the most important artifacts in World Series history, dating back to 1903,” SCP Auctions President David Kohler said.

Dodgers Reach Deal with Blake Treinen, Make Michael Conforto Signing Official

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday morning officially announced the signings of veteran righty reliever Blake Treinen and journeyman outfielder Michael Conforto.

Treinen’s deal is for two years and $22 million with a $5 million signing bonus. The 6-foot-5, 36-year-old Treinen came on strong late in the 2024 season after missing the first part of the year with a lung contusion he sustained in spring training.

Although Tommy Edman’s extension from the Los Angeles Dodgers has seemingly taken a backseat to the Blake Snell signing, it still remains an important part of the team roster foundation in 2025 and beyond.

Edman’s solid defensive versatility in both the outfield and infield gives the Dodgers incredible flexibility in their defensive alignments and late-game substitutions. His switch-hitting ability and speed on the basepaths add another dynamic element to an already potent lineup.
