Tempers were flaring once again among many fans of the Dodgers on Saturday night, this time with a large group showing sympathy for Rich Hill after being yanked during a quest at perfection, while another lot was steadfast in backing skipper Dave Roberts‘ choice in making the controversial decision to remove him. Social media was a mess — supporters of the club were deeply immersed in the conjecture, so much so that many overlooked the stellar performances of Joc Pederson and the Dodgers’ offense, which was a driving force in winning another key game in the battle to maintain the lead in the NL West.

If there’s one department that has been inconsistently consistent for the Dodgers over the course of the 2016 season, it’s undoubtedly the starting pitching rotation.
It was only towards the end of last winter, just shortly after the club signed Scott Kazmir and Kenta Maeda, that many fans were calling for a trade of Alex Wood because of the rotation being overcrowded. Resident ace Clayton Kershaw would be the headliner while southpaw Brett Anderson brought up the rear. Sandwiched in between would be Kazmir and Maeda, along with lefty Hyun-jin Ryu, who, at the time, was throwing well and poised to join the rotation by Opening Day.

While starting pitcher Kenta Maeda was lying on the ground grimacing in pain after being hit by a line drive in Tuesday night’s game against the Diamondbacks, the initial thought that registered in the minds of many Dodgers‘ fans was the concern for the Japanese right-hander’s general well being.
However, after letting the situation digest and seeing that he needed assistance to leave the field, those same fans wondered who would be the next best starting pitcher to fill a rotation slot should Maeda need an extended period of time to heal.
