More speculative rumors continued to develop in the Dodgers camp on Sunday when Jon Morosi of Fox Sports leaked that the club has expressed interest in Tampa Bay infielder Logan Forsythe.
“Yes, I’m stuck in the middle with you, And I’m wondering what it is I should do It’s so hard to keep this smile from my face, Losing control, and I’m all over the place”
Even though the World Series has only just begun and the peak of the Hot Stove season is still weeks away, many fans of the Dodgers are already chattering about potential areas of improvement, most specifically alterations to the nucleus of the 40-man roster.
The good news is that the Dodgers ultimately did what they needed to do, defeating the Nationals 6-5 and forcing a decisive Game 5 in the nation’s capital on Thursday. The bad news is both the starting rotation and bullpen are nearly exhausted, outside of a 20-year-old rookie southpaw just waiting to have his shot at stardom.
A legendary broadcaster in his final year on the airwaves. A rookie prodigy at shortstop who is stomping his way to the top of the league’s MVP voting. A former Dodgers outfielder in his inaugural season as skipper. Leadership qualities just oozing from every single crevice of the clubhouse. While the players thought that playoff success was in the making in each of the last three campaigns, 2016 is shaping up to have all the necessary components of a truly memorable year.
After four torturous days without Dodgers baseball, it is here — the first day of the second half. The first half felt long and tenuous at times, so I thought I’d take a quick look back at what I think are the Top Five highlights.

Sometimes, I suppose, it’s easy for us to forget how lucky we are. We get bogged down in the day to day minutia and only focus on the bad things happening to us. This happens with sports fandom also. It’s so easy to focus on all the things that are going wrong with your team, that you don’t see all the amazing things that are happening in front of you.
Granted, it’s much easier said then done to arrive in Chicago at 3:30 a.m. after an adrenaline-draining victory in New York, show up to Wrigley Field about eight hours later, then expect to find any type of rhythm with the lumber. But despite the hectic scheduling, the Dodgers have found themselves in similar situations one too many times already over the course of the 2016 campaign, and need to show more consistency on offense in order to make up ground in the NL West.

Part of the fun of doing a weekly baseball column is that so many things vary from week to week. Last week I was looking for optimistic things to write about. This week is a bit easier. The Dodgers‘ offensive and bullpen woes are still there, but a winning road trip capped off with win on Mother’s Day is always cause for celebration.
