Dodgers Roster: What to Do About that Payroll Issue?

In a column over the weekend, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times wrote about the organizational spending of the Dodgers, and how the team needs to reduce payroll. In the piece, he states that the Dodgers are mandated by Major League Baseball to reduce their debt in order conform with the league’s rules. The overall of goal is to have payroll closer to $200 million by 2018, down from its high that was close to $300 million in 2015.

How a New CBA Could Affect Mechanics of Dodgers’ Future Rosters

With a potential collective bargaining agreement forecast to dominate baseball news over the next several days, many fans are guessing that both the free agent and trade markets may turn into a frenzy if indeed a mutual pact is reached. One key component of the agreement could be the increase of the luxury tax threshold, allowing clubs across the league to conceivably increase payroll another $11 million before being penalized with a tax. Such an addendum could certainly provide the Dodgers with a little bit more breathing room when assembling the club’s player personnel for 2017 and beyond.

Zack Greinke Rumors Rustling Around Dodgertown?

It’s been a little quiet lately for the Dodgers in regards to the Hot Stove. All of us are eagerly waiting to hear that they have re-signed Justin Turner and/or Kenley Jansen. That announcement(s) probably won’t come soon enough for our liking, if at all. Meanwhile, a team within the division made a trade earlier this week. The Arizona Diamondbacks traded Jean Segura, Zac Curtis and Mitch Hanover to the Seattle Mariners for Taijuan Walker and Ketel Marte.

Dodgers Rumors: Is a Trade with White Sox Worth Exploring?

Being normal for the time of year, there are many trade rumors going around. One tweet stirring up some interesting thoughts is an idea by Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. He sees the Chicago White Sox being very good trade partners for the Dodgers. Chris Sale, Todd Frazier, Jose Quintana, and David Robertson are players that the White Sox would be willing to move in order to restructure, while Cody Bellinger, Alex Verdugo, Jose De Leon, Willie Calhoun and Yasiel Puig are all players that the White Sox could have interest in.
