Highlighting Julio Urias’ Success So Far in 2021

Julio Urias was the player who closed out the Dodgers’ 2020 World Championship, the first since 1988. The Mexican left-hander is still only 24 years old, as he’s been with the big league club six years now. He made his debut at only 19, which seems like forever ago.

Dodgers News and Notes: NL West Standings, Mookie Betts’ Health, and More

(Tim Heitman/USA TODAY Sports)

The Los Angeles Dodgers have finally lost a game in the Albert Pujols Era.

It was, of course, too good to be true, that the Dodgers would not lose again simply because Pujols is now on the team, but it was fun while it lasted. Their loss Wednesday night to the Houston Astros snapped an eight-game winning streak.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are undefeated in the Albert Pujols era.

Since signing the future Hall of Famer last Monday, the Dodgers have won seven straight, including sweeping San Francisco last weekend. It might be hard to believe, but the Los Angeles Dodgers have used a whopping 16 pitchers in relief roles already this year. If you would have told any fan in the preseason that arms like Mike Kickham, Alex Vesia, and Edwin Uceta would throw in the major league bullpen before the calendar turned to June, chances are they would have been extremely skeptical.

Right Now, Trevor Bauer Delivering Exactly What Dodgers Need

Undeniably, there has not been more preliminary scrutiny over a contract in recent years than the deal the Los Angeles Dodgers made for pitcher Trevor Bauer last winter. While the three-year, $102 million agreement makes Bauer among MLB’s highest-paid players, only time will tell if it was a sound investment. However, based on what we’ve seen already, the reasons the team went above and beyond to sign the righty starter are starting to become visible, shenanigans aside.
