Dodgers Roster: What Lies Ahead for Blake Treinen?

Each year during spring training there seems to be an obligatory conversation surrounding whether veteran righty Blake Treinen could make a potential contribution to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 35-year-old reliever hasn’t pitched a full season since 2021 when he logged 72.1 innings of work with 85 punchouts and an impressive 0.982 WHIP. However, 2024 could be the year when he at least starts the season relatively healthy with a full head of steam.

Dodgers 2024 Roster: A Closer Look at Andre Lipcius

Although the Los Angeles Dodgers don’t have many holes in their active roster, there has been one demon that has already reared its ugly head during 2024 Cactus League play.

The big news coming out of camp this week is skipper Dave Roberts announcing that Mookie Betts has moved to shortstop with Gavin Lux shifting back to second base. While Roberts deemed the move permanent, it’s just too early in the season to guess how the infield will eventually pan out.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2024 Predictions: SportsLine, ZiPS and More

Although the 2024 MLB regular season begins on March 28 for most teams, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will get a head start on this year’s campaign under the world microscope with a series in Seoul on March 20 and 21.

This will be an interesting matchup, as the Dodgers went full-in to land Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and others, while the Padres dealt superstar Juan Soto to the Yankees, seemingly to avoid a payroll crunch.

Dodgers Trade Manuel Margot, Sign Enrique Hernandez

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced several key moves on Monday afternoon, essentially trading away center fielder Manuel Margot to make room for super-utilityman Enrique Hernandez.

The Margot deal also involved sending minor league infielder Rayne Doncon and cash considerations to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for minor league infielder Noah Miller.

Dodgers Announce 2024 Coaching Staffs for Minor League Squads

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday announced their minor league coaching staffs for the 2024 season with Travis Barbary (Oklahoma City), Scott Hennessey (Tulsa), Jair Fernandez (Great Lakes), John Shoemaker (Rancho Cucamonga), Juan Apodaca (Arizona Complex League Dodgers), Dunior Zerpa and Leury Bonilla (Dominican Summer League Dodgers) all leading their respective squads.

Clayton Kershaw Reportedly Agrees to Deal with Dodgers

Lefty Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly reached a deal for the upcoming 2024 season. The 35-year-old veteran is expected to complete a physical by week’s end, at which time the club will announce the signing. Thursday is the first day that MLB teams can assign players to the 60-day injured list, meaning the Dodgers can make the move official without needing a 40-man roster spot.

Dodgers Sign Veteran Lefty James Paxton

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday afternoon announced the signing of left-handed pitcher James Paxton to a one-year contract for the 2024 season. Early reports indicate that Paxton will receive an $8 million base salary and a $3 million signing bonus with several other potential incentives.

Dodgers Roster: Exploring the Organizational Depth at Catcher

Although 28-year-old Will Smith has a stronghold on the catching spot for at least several more seasons, 2024 could be the year we finally see a few other names emerge as a potential backup for the Los Angeles Dodgers other than Austin Barnes.

The Dodgers will feature three young catchers on the big-league side of spring training this year in Hunter Feduccia, Diego Cartaya and Dalton Rushing, all of whom could emerge as a potential replacement for Barnes.

Dodgers Roster: More Thoughts on the 2024 Starting Rotation
