While many fans of the Dodgers are immersed in what the big-league ballclub is up to these days, this weekly installment will focus on what the Blue Crew currently have cookin’ down in their minor-league system. Yusniel Diaz, Keibert Ruiz Represent Dodgers in 2018 Futures Game
As a prelude to the 2018 MLB All-Star Game, many devout fans and knowledgeable baseball pundits managed to catch a glimpse of several potential All-Star players in this year’s Futures Game this past Sunday. The Los Angeles Dodgers sent two of their top prospects in outfielder Yusniel Diaz (ranked 4th in their system) and catcher Keibert Ruiz (ranked 2nd) to represent the club this year, both playing for the World Team due to their international backgrounds.

If you’re a regular reader of this site, you’ll know that occasionally we like to pick a position on the Dodgers‘ farm and discuss exactly how much minor league depth there is at that particular position. About twice per year, we take a look at catcher and analyze the top handful of prospects in the system. Up until recently, Keibert Ruiz normally headlined the list; however, at the midway point of 2018, the versatile Will Smith has seemingly overtaken Ruiz and could be on a super-fast track to the big leagues.

Dodgers Prospects: A Conversation with Rancho Reliever Zach Pop
While there have been many conversations this season surrounding the big league bullpen of the Dodgers, many fans have taken it upon themselves to scour the depths of the farm system in search of any rising arms that stand out. In the past, it was rare to find a true reliever who was developed in the bullpen, because most of the pitchers with the highest values are often groomed as starters regardless of their pedigrees. However, in the newest generation of prospects, pitchers like Joe Broussard, Shea Spitzbarth, and Marshall Kasowski have been developed as relievers since day one and have been rising to the top very quickly. Add Rancho Cucamonga reliever Zach Pop to the aforementioned crew, and it’s not difficult to see why the organization is extremely excited about the bullpen talent that’s ready to emerge.

Dodgers 25-Man Roster: The Time Could Be Now for Joe Broussard
Tossing around a few ideas for Sunday’s column, my initial plan was to take a crack at optimizing the Dodgers‘ current bullpen crew, at least from a standpoint of which pitchers are the most capable. However, the way the club’s 25-man roster personnel is being handled these days, it sometimes boils down to whomever has the freshest of arms, especially with regard to who’s on the current 40-man roster.

Dodgers 2018 Draft: Highlights from Day 3
The Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday evening announced their final 30 picks from the third day of the 2018 Draft.
The Dodgers made 40 overall picks in this year’s draft, selecting 19 pitchers (13 right-handers, six left-handers), 13 outfielders, five infielders and three catchers. Of the 21 drafted position players, 10 are right-handed hitters, 10 are left-handed hitters and one is a switch-hitter. Thirty-three were selected from the college ranks while seven were drafted out of high school.

Think Blue Planning Committee
