Back in the day—long before the Home Run Derby, the Futures Game, and tons of commercialization—the All-Star Game seemingly had a different type of meaning. It really wasn’t about the money, but more of a sense of comradery alongside opportunities for players to represent their respective teams. Such games were played when there was a huge amount of team loyalty among their participants, unless, of course, a player was jettisoned away by means of an unwanted trade to a rival squad.

Max Muncy Named to 2019 National League All-Star Squad

Deservedly so, this afternoon Dodgers infielder Max Muncy was named to the 2019 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which will take place on Tuesday, July 9 at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Muncy is replacing Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon of the Washington Nationals and will join teammates Cody Bellinger, Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw and Hyun-Jin Ryu at the 90th annual All-Star festivities.

Joc Pederson to Participate in 2019 Home Run Derby

Joc Pederson of the Dodgers has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2019 T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, July 8. The 2019 Derby will be held at Progressive Field in Cleveland and will be broadcast live by ESPN and MLB.com beginning at 8:00 PM Eastern and 5:00 PM Pacific times.

Led By Unlikely Players, the Dodgers Survived and Succeeded in First Half

The first half of the 2018 season is over , and the Dodgers have somehow found themselves in first place in the West. Of course, this is all what we expected from a team that was this close to winning the World Series last year. Yet, this season so far has been anything but what fans thought it might be.

Matt Kemp, Kenley Jansen Selected to 2018 National League All-Star Squad

Major League Baseball announced on Sunday afternoon that right-handed pitcher Kenley Jansen and outfielder Matt Kemp were named to the National League All-Star team, which will be managed by Dodgers‘ skipper Dave Roberts. Jansen, who was selected via player balloting, and Kemp, who was a fan-elected starter, will both be making their third All-Star appearance. Major League Baseball’s 89th All-Star Game presented will be played on Tuesday, July 17 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. and will be televised nationally on FOX.

It’s Official: Dodgers to Host 2020 All-Star Game

As we all knew yesterday the announcement was coming, today it became official. Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. announced that Major League Baseball has awarded the 2020 All-Star Game and accompanying All-Star Week festivities to the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The 2020 Midsummer Classic will be the 91st edition in the event’s history, which dates back to 1933.

How the Dodgers Became the Best Team in Baseball at the All-Star Break

We have reached the All-Star break, and suffice it to say, we can all be very pleased  with the first half of the 2017 season. The Dodgers are sole owners of the best record in baseball, at 61-29, and are more games over .500 than games they’ve actually lost.

Alex Wood Named to National League All-Star Squad

Late Friday morning, Major League Baseball announced the selections of seven players to the active All-Star rosters as replacements for previously selected players unable to participate in Tuesday’s affair.  Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Alex Wood joins the National League Team, while newly-named American League All-Stars include Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer, Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Canó, Houston Astros reliever Chris Devenski, Minnesota Twins reliever Brandon Kintzler, Toronto Blue Jays reliever Roberto Osuna and Detroit Tigers outfielder Justin Upton.
