It wasn’t long ago that much of the overall success of the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ organization was primarily credited to extremely strong roots in the club’s pitching program. While the main philosophy really hasn’t changed moving forward, the 2016 season deviated a bit from the norm, mainly because of the high number of injuries and the fact that upper management has been entrusting the future of the pitching staff to the youngsters, who may be only a season or two away from stardom.

Dodgers Bullpen Could Play Huge Role in NLDS Decider

As far as predictions go, it’s been almost impossible to even come close to the scripts played out so far by the Dodgers and the Nationals in the 2016 NLDS. And with the winner-take-all Game 5 previews pouring out everywhere in the baseball blogosphere, there’s a good chance that none of them approach what’s on tap in the season finale. Dodgers’ Victory Forces Decisive Game 5 Against Nationals

The good news is that the Dodgers ultimately did what they needed to do, defeating the Nationals 6-5 and forcing a decisive Game 5 in the nation’s capital on Thursday. The bad news is both the starting rotation and bullpen are nearly exhausted, outside of a 20-year-old rookie southpaw just waiting to have his shot at stardom.

Dodgers Hope Bats Reignite in Return to Los Angeles

Whenever the Dodgers‘ bats decided to hibernate with runners in scoring position during the regular season, they seemed to do so with a vengeance. Such was the case in Game 2 of the NLDS on Sunday afternoon. The Boys in Blue had control through three innings behind a Corey Seager solo home run and an RBI single by Josh Reddick, but were lulled to sleep shortly thereafter, eventually falling 5-2 to the Nationals and seeing the series become tied at one game apiece.

Dodgers 2016 Playoff Roster Projections: Final Edition

(Update: On Tuesday evening, Dave Roberts revealed to media that Dodgers will carry three catchers on NLDS roster, meaning Austin Barnes will be on 25-man. He also said Charlie Culberson has made roster, while Enrique Hernandez will be sent back to Arizona to stay hot. Julio Urias will be Dodgers Game 4 starter if Kershaw doesn’t come back on short rest. Seven-man bullpen will consist of Jansen, Blanton, Baez, Dayton, Fields, Avilan and Stripling.)
