Better NLDS Opponent for Dodgers: New York Mets or San Diego Padres?

Although the Los Angeles Dodgers can relax briefly while preparing for the beginning of the NLDS next Tuesday, there’s still the matter of determining which team they’ll face, as the Mets and Padres fight for the right to advance through the 2022 postseason’s wildcard series.

Dodgers Face Padres in Final Road Series of Regular Season

Here is the final road series of the 2022 season, or it might as well be another home series at Dodger Stadium South. Nine games are now left in the season, and the Dodgers have already tied their franchise record in wins in 106.

After the three-game series against the Padres, the Dodgers will commence the season with a six-game set against the Colorado Rockies. Who knows, this Padres series could be a mini playoff series. The Dodgers will face the matchup winner between the fourth and fifth seed, and the fifth seed is currently San Diego. The fourth seed will either be the Braves or the Mets.

MLB Announces New Rules for 2023, Latest Dodger Notes

Games at Dodger Stadium and MLB ballparks will look a bit differently next year, as MLB has instituted the new on-field play rules for the 2023 season.

MLB hopes to improve the pace of play and create more game action. First up is the pitch clock. One person who may not be happy is Pedro Baez. Pitchers have 15 seconds to throw a pitch if the bases are empty, 20 seconds with runners on, and hitters only get one timeout per plate appearance.

Padres Defeat Dodgers to Avoid Weekend Sweep

Trailing the entire game, the Padres scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning on Sunday to defeat the Dodgers 4-2 and avoid a four-game sweep at Dodger Stadium.

After starting the series with a 1-1/2 game division lead over the Padres, the Dodgers find themselves 3-1/2 games up over their Southern California rivals. Even though it was a productive series for Los Angeles, Sunday’s loss was still disappointing because the team was so close to the sweep.

Dodgers Claim Righty Pitcher Ian Gibaut from Guardians

Nearly two weeks after dropping a series to the Cleveland Guardians, the Dodgers claimed one of their former relievers in righty Ian Gibaut.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 250 pounds, the 28-year-old Gibaut brings a sizable presence to the mound. The Houston native and former 11th round pick of the Rays in 2015 made his MLB debut with Tampa back in 2019.

Bellinger, Dodgers Power Past Padres in San Diego

The Dodgers sandwiched a pair of fantastic performances on Friday and Sunday around a lackluster offensive effort on Saturday, giving good reason why many pundits view them as the best team in the majors at this point of the season.

Production From Muncy, Betts Could Take Dodgers’ Offense to Next Level

Even though the Los Angeles Dodgers are sitting at 10-3 with one of the MLB’s top records, there’s still plenty of room for improvement.

When the team signed former MVP Freddie Freeman not long before the 2022 regular season finally got underway, writers across the baseball blogosphere began talking about how potent the Los Angeles lineup might be. However, there have been a few cold bats — most notably the lumber of Max Muncy and Mookie Betts — that have relegated the club to the fifth-best hitting and the second-best run producing team in the majors.
