There’s always a guy you admire, no matter what team he’s on. You admire his work, his stats, his efforts — on and off the field. Last week, I asked who your all-time favorite Dodger was, and there were quite the variety of answers. This week I asked what player from another team would you most like to see play for the Dodgers, and there were only a few answers.

The first, as I’m sure you all could imagine, is Mike Trout.

Who wouldn’t want to see Mike Trout on their team? Could you imagine, the best pitcher on the planet, and the best player on the planet on the same team at the same time? Seems almost unfair.  Well, to other teams anyway.  Trout wouldn’t even have to move! I’m sure Joc Pederson would have something to say about it, though. I feel that if Trout was to move on from the Angels, he should go home and play for the Phillies.  He is still such a supporter of all the teams from there, and to see him in center at Citizens Bank Park would be pretty special.

Another centerfielder that get some love is Andrew McCutchen.

I have always been a big fan of McCutchen, and I would love to see him play for the Dodgers. But this is someone who deserves to stay in Pittsburgh. He has been there his whole career, is very involved in his community, and I think it would be a travesty for him to move on. Some players are just meant to play their whole career in one spot, and he is one of them.

Some third basemen also get some mentions

It takes someone special to play for a rival team, and still get respect.  With absolutely no disrespect to Justin Turner, Nolan Arenado would be something to watch at third base, and at the plate. Two-time Silver Slugger, two-time All-Star, two-time RBI leader… Although Colorado has a new manager, and seem to be on the upward tick, I’m sure he’d love to play for a contender, right? And to be able to have him and JT together on the same team? Definitely would take care of the second base issues if Justin moved there. And then Turner and Adrian Gonzalez would be right next to each other all the time! Think of all the double play selfies! Ok, I’m getting carried away here.

How about some other pitchers to shore up the staff behind Kershaw?

Man, don’t you just get giddy at the thought of any of these guys in the rotation, along with Kershaw, Hill, and Maeda? It would almost be like when Zack Greinke was on the team, two pitchers vying and competing against each other for the Cy Young. Sigh.  Which leads me to the last one:

Oh Rebekah, I feel you.  A.J. Ellis will always be missed on this team.

I know that any, and quite possibly all of these scenarios are not feasible, and that’s ok.  It doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to dream about, in the middle of the winter when baseball seems so far away. So dream away my fellow Dodger fans, about what could be, and wait for spring to come.
