The Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday morning placed left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw on the 10-day disabled list with left bicep tendinitis and recalled right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Kershaw, 30, has made seven starts this season going 1-4 with a 2.86 ERA (14 ER/44.0 IP) and has held hitters to a .234 average, while striking out 48 against just 10 walks. The southpaw last started on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out six in 6.0 innings as he did not factor in the decision.
Stewart, 26, who will make his second stint with the big league club this year, made his 2018 debut on April 30 against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run and striking out three in 1.2 innings of relief with the Dodgers. The right-hander has made four starts with Oklahoma City this season, going 1-0 with a 2.41 ERA (5 ER/18.2 IP) and has struck out 20 batters against just six walks, while limiting the opposition to a .200 average. In 2017, Stewart appeared in 17 games (four starts) with Los Angeles, collecting one save and posting a 3.41 ERA (13 ER/34.1 IP), while holding batters to a .226 average.

On the postgame show today, they were mentioning a few other pitchers with bicep tendinitis (I prefer tendonitis since we’re talking about tendons here, but apparently either spelling is acceptable), and the guys they mentioned were out about 4-5 weeks. That, gentlemen, may be the BEST scenario we can hope for.
They apparently intend to start Stripling in the Reds series so I guess he is one of the 5 starters until further notice and Stewart is up here to fill a bullpen space. If I were his agent, I would try to convince Friedman to trade him immediately but, of course, the way they are handling him just continues to reduce his trade value.
For reasons that I can’t explain even to myself I still haven’t given up on the season, but I reserve the right to do so at any time.
Late Breaking News: The front office was on the verge of a trade for Machado but had to back out because Muncy refused to give up uniform number 13 (sorry, gallows humor there).

Somebody told me that Ned Colletti was one among a handful of people this weekend to watch Jon Broxton throw 30 pitches in a shopping center parking lot. Not sure what that’s all about.

I reckon they’ll give Manny Banuelos a spot on the 40-man as soon as they shift Seager or Ryu to the 60. Scoop oughta be happy to hear that.

Next man up. He’s the guy leading the rotation at AAA, so, he’s the next log on the fire.
I’ve been thinking for some time now that with the FAZ penchant for defective parts their next genius innovation might should be a 6 man rotation. Even the ace now has taken on the organizational signature of rehabilitant. 6-8 guys rotated around every 5-6 days could save some wear and tear on the already worn and torn. Yeah, it would take an additional roster spot, but with the 10 day jacuzzi list dexterously manipulated it could be done. Besides, we have Hernandez who is so utility skilled he can play two positions at once.
