All-Star utilityman Chris Taylor of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been named the National League Player of the Week, while his counterpart and former teammate Enrique Hernandez earned the American League honors.
Taylor claimed his first POTW award and is the second Dodgers winner in the last three weeks, joining his teammate AJ Pollock from July 12.
Hernández also earned his first career Player of the Week Award and is the second Red Sox winner this season, joining his All-Star teammate J.D. Martinez from April 12.
Chris Taylor
- Hit .414 with nine runs scored, 12 hits, two doubles, five home runs, six RBI and a stolen base in seven games played.
- Led the NL in runs and total bases (29) and tied for first in home runs. Also tied for second in hits and ranked third in slugging percentage and ninth in batting average.
- Slugged two homers and scored four runs during a three-hit performance in the Dodgers’ 8-6 win over the NL West-rival Giants on Tuesday.
- Homered twice and collected three hits for the second time during the week in Sunday’s 3-2 win over the visiting Rockies.
- Has hit safely in each of his last six games, including four multi-hit contests. Has also hit safely in 18 of 21 July contests and is batting .354 with six homers, six doubles and 16 RBI during the month.
- His 73 runs scored on the season rank second in the NL behind only Fernando Tatis Jr. (76).
Kiké Hernández
- Hit .400/.448/1.000 with eight runs scored, 10 hits, four doubles, one triple, three home runs and nine RBI over six games played.
- Led the AL in RBI and total bases (25) for the week while tying for first in hits, runs and doubles. Also ranked second in slugging percentage; third in batting average; and sixth in on-base percentage.
- Hit safely in all six of Boston’s games during the week, leading the Red Sox to a 5-1 mark.
- Recorded three straight games with a double and multiple RBI, driving in three runs on Monday against Toronto, two runs on Wednesday against the Blue Jays and three runs on Thursday against the Yankees. Also homered three times across the three contests.
- Leads the AL with 13 extra-base hits and 47 total bases during the month of July.

Holmes traded from the Pirates to the Yanks for 2 minor leaguers. Young claimed off waivers by the Jays. Reed claimed by the Rays from the Dodgers.

I’m surprised that AF hasn’t approached Taylor’s camp to see about an extension. Of course he may have and we just haven’t heard about it.
CT3 has been incredibly consistent and extremely valuable. I say, lock him up now, even if you have to overpay a little.
Yes as I have said I believe he is more valuable as a player to the team than Seager.
He has been. My hope going forward is Seager outplays him offensively. We will need to score a lot runs from here on out.
I sign Taylor yesterday. The guy has been nails all year, and for most of his Dodger career he has been a great asset. Chafin to the A’s for 2 minor leaguers…hmm seems a little low of a price for a reliever with his chops. Davidson hit HR # 17, The guy has been on a tear. He seems like a better option than Reks or Raley, and definitely Neuse. 3 days to the deadline, no action out of LA yet, but you have to believe that AF has some pokers in the fire. Muncy back tonight and not a moment too soon.
No Dodger game last night so I watched the Asterisks and the Mariners. Ass***** jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Mariners came all the way back to win, 11-8. Thing of beauty to watch. USA took the medal lead by 1 in Tokyo, China second with 20. USA has 9 golds and the women’s softball team plays Japan for the gold today.
