Dodgers Take Part in 13th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, in partnership with Ralphs/Food 4 Less, hosted the 13th annual Community Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at Dodger Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Dodger manager Dave Roberts, outfielder Joc Pederson and Dodgers alumni Ron Cey, Mickey Hatcher and Dennis Powell were on hand to help distribute a complimentary turkey, fixings and reusable canvas bags to 1,200 pre-selected families and non-profit community organizations who will in turn distribute them to Los Angeles-area families in need.

“This program provides us with a unique opportunity to interact with our fans beyond the stadium,” said Naomi Rodriguez, Dodger Vice President of External Affairs and Community Relations. “We’re able to kick-off the giving season by providing those who need it most with a Thanksgiving meal as we continue to give back and thank our community.”

The Dodgers partnered with the offices of Mayor Eric Garcetti, Senator Kevin de León, council member Gil Cedillo, council member Mitch O’Farrell, Congressman Jimmy Gomez and Supervisor Hilda Solis for the turkey giveaway, with each office selecting organizations in its district to benefit.

Turkeys and fixings are also being provided to pre-selected students in the Dodgers’ “Community of Schools,” a strategic community partnership to improve the education and wellness of children attending local schools and living in communities surrounding Dodger Stadium.
