With less than 48 hours remaining before the 2017 non-waiver trade deadline, the Dodgers on Saturday afternoon acquired lefty pitcher Luis Ysla from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations.
Ysla will immediately be optioned to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers roster.
Ysla, 25, appeared in 29 relief appearances with Boston’s Double-A Portland this season going 1-5 with one save and posted a 5.05 ERA over 46-1/3 innings pitched. Over five minor league seasons with the Giants during the 2013-15 seasons, and the Red Sox in 2015-17, Ysla has gone 16-23 with five saves and has posted a 3.85 ERA, while striking out 374 batters against 160 walks in 359-2/3 innings. He has appeared in 140 career minor league games, 44 starts of which were starts.
Ysla was selected as the 2013 Rookie-Level Arizona League Post-Season All-Star, while also being honored as the 2014 Single-A South Atlantic League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star. The Venezuela native was originally signed by San Francisco as an international free agent in September of 2012.
In order to create room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred infielder Adrián González to the 60-day disabled list, which can be retroactive to June 12.
